“Once a year, a road appears in the forest”
I really enjoyed this at the start because of how intriguing the concept of the road was and the atmosphere of the woods. I also liked how it was told through Sara’s perspective, videos, interviews, text messages, and picture descriptions, because it added depth and suspense.
Since it was horror though, I was expecting it to be scary, while I found this only mildly creepy and bizarre. After the halfway mark, it started to get boring and the cast of characters was also hard to keep track of as the book went on, so that made want to dnf it at points.
I kept reading though and towards the end it picked up and was intriguing again with a really good plot twist. But sadly it went downhill again after that. The ending was so confusing especially that very last page. What was the point of that and why was it included?? It felt a bit unsatisfying to me as it felt like something was missing.
Overall however it was a really unique and interesting read that I’d recommend!
