My Rating: 4 Stars
Soo...I actually didn't realize this was written by Marissa Meyer until after I finished this book. I was really surprised since this is super different from the Lunar Chronicles. And at that point, I was like how in the world, did I not see it this whole time??
Anyways, onto the review which is about the actual book and not my surprise about Marissa Meyer's writing this book.
Characters:
Prudence: Honestly, Prudence was kind of annoying at some points, but surprisingly, I didn't find her that annoying in the first few chapters cause her freaking about the project was kind of relatable, and at that point, she hadn't really insulted Quint yet. Despite her occasional judgy-ness, I liked her character development since she seemed to have changed a lot by the end. What I disliked the most about her was how mean she was to Poor Quint!
Quint: I had a feeling from the start that Quint had much more going on than Prudence assumed, and I'm really glad he did! Because if he didn't care about anything at all, he would have been a boring character, despite his niceness.
I really liked Ari and Jude but I don't have much to say about the other side characters.
Concept + Plot
The concept of the instant karma infliction was interesting but it seemed like a separate storyline than the rest of the book because it just randomly happened in between the actual plot. It was definitely important but almost just barely since it was such a side focus. Plot-wise, it got a bit slow in the middle but it still kept my interest. I was probably more invested in the book because of the animal rescue center than because of the characters.
Cuteness Meter
It was really cute when they disliked each other because their BANTER. ahhh their arguments and teasing were really entertaining and the slow burn was supper slow in a good way. But honestly, it got a bit cheesy and boring right after the confession scene, but it didn't say boring for very long...
Since we're talking about cuteness can I just say, the sea animals were sooo cutee!!
Lenon and Luna were probably the cutest couple... or should I say friends?? We may never know, since Quint would not elaborate more, but THEY'RE SOO CUTE!!! If you know, you know...
Overall, this was a really fun read and I loved the Beatles references, enemies to lovers, and (I just got to say it again) the cute sea animals!!
Aesthetic
Here's an aesthetic I made of Instant Karma! This isn't super specific to scenes in the book, but I tried to capture the overall vibes I was getting from the book as I was reading.
So there's my review and aesthetic of Instant Karma! It's been really nice to write a review again, since it's been a while.
