Hi, Hello, and Welcome, to this blog post about a crazy reading experience, also known as my wanting to read 200 books this year and being too busy and falling behind, then frantically trying to finish at last minute! School has been very busy and energy-draining lately, but now I have winter break so I can read a bunch.
How this is going to work is that on each day I'll talk about what I read and how it went until the end when we'll see if I made it or not! Honestly, I really don't know if I can do this, but I won't go down without a fight! I'll be publishing this post right now, while it's incomplete but I'll update it each day.
I did some math(me doing math?!) and calculated how many books I had left to read and how many days I had left to read them. Then I went to the library and got a big ole stack of books, which along with all my ebooks should be enough to sustain me through this challenge, so I'm all set!
Now without further ado...let's get into it..!
Day 1-
~ 12-23-2021 ~
Today I had a shortened day of school which wasn't too busy, so
I got some reading in during class! I read 15% of All Your Twisted Lies(as an e-book).
Once I got home, I read and finished The Tea Dragon Society! I was really excited to finally read this one because it's soo cutee and also, it has dragons! It was really fun to look at all the adorable tea dragons and characters even though the book didn't have much of a story.
So after I finished this, I read some more of Six Crimson Cranes. I also may or may not have done a mini photo shoot with the book because this cover is so gorgeous! Anyways, I read up to page 120 and it turns out this one has a dragon too! Two dragon-y books in a row!? I just loved the dragonss, but the book itself is really good too!
Then I got distracted and read Webtoons for a while before I went back to reading All Your Twisted Lies which I read up to 61% of.
Around 11ish at night, I read some of A Pho Love Story and then went to sleep.
Day 2-
~ 12-24-2021 ~
Since I didn't get to read as much as I wanted to yesterday I started reading when I woke up and I read up to page 172 before I get distracted by Webtoons again, lol. You know what I think Webtoons do count as books on Goodreads so I'll probably mark them as read. They actually take a long time to read if you try reading an entire on in one day like I sometimes do.
Enjoy some beautiful Webtoon art! 😍
Later on, I continued reading All Your Twisted Lies and I finished! But sadly in turned out to be a two-star read because of the ending :(
(My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4361364701 )
At around 11 again, I continued reading and I got to page 260 of A Pho Love Story.
Day 3-
~ 12-25-2021 ~
Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate it and Happy Holidays to everyone either ways!! 🎄
I woke this morning and got these two gifts:
(just laying on the floor, lol, cause we don't ever get a Christmas tree)
I got Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets the illustrated edition by MinaLima and this yellow journal for taking notes on books!
The wand and map are from Universal Studios.
The funny thing is I got Sirius Black's wand and my brother got Snape's wand and the guy at the shop was like "oooh those are opposing wandsss". The two of them are always fighting and that's a little like me and my brother 😂
A while later, I continued reading A Pho Love Story. I can really relate to Linh, not because of her personality but because she's entering the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. I entered that same one with my stories last year, and actually won 2 Gold Keys and a Silver, but this year I worked for about 6 months continuously and I'm trying to get something on national level, which probably won't happen. This is kind of random, but honestly, it's been stressful even now that I've submitted and am just waiting for the results.
Ok, ok, moving on! I continued reading A Pho Love Story, and I finished! I also finished a Kane Chronicles and Percy Jackson crossover by Rick Riordan and another Webtoon (up to the latest episode).
At around 12ish, I continued reading until 4 am cause I wasn't sleepy, and I finished Ace of Spade which turned out to be a five star read! I'd been only a few pages in before, but I just picked off where I left off and continued reading until I finished. Oh my gosh this was literally me reading of Ace of Spades
After that, I started Moxie and read up to page 118. And then yes, I eventually fell asleep :)
at 5 am...
Day 4-
~ 12-26-2021 ~
helloo! I just realized I should probably put the 4am reading stuff in this day cause technically the day would have switched but I'm keeping it there anyways.
I didn't read too much during the day but at night, I continued my rered of Anne of Green Gables (I went from page 62 to page 272) and finished Moxie at around 12, which turned out to be a four star read! Then I read some more of Anne of Avonlea and the new illustrated edition of Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets.
As an update, I currently have 14 books to read for my reading challenge!
Day 5-
~ 12-27-2021 ~
I won't be able to read as much today because I'm going on a road trip but I'm bringing a whole separate bag with books for when I get there and I also have my e-books! Yes, I'm the type of person who brings books on trips too, lol
I got there pretty late so I only go to read four pages of This Poison Heart.
Day 6-
~ 12-28-2021 ~
I read some more of This Poison Heart and Six Crimson Cranes and I finished Yolk which turned out to be a four star read!
ahhh I feel so bad that this is all I have on today's post, but I've been in a hotel room all day and nothing interesting is happening.
I've mostly been writing, working on my novel, and maybe freaking out about school a bit.
I also saw the book cover of an anthology of short stories, one of my stories is being published in! This would be more exciting, but I honestly totally forgot this contest existed and then submitted some trash stories the day before and then forgot about it again because I have a bigger contest to focus on. Then I found out one of my stories got chosen I was really stressed out about it because that was one of my ancient, very poorly written, cringey stories.
Still, I guess it's ok for my second publishing experience ever so I'm trying not to freak out too much.
Day 7-
~ 12-29-2021 ~
I started reading right away after waking up and I finished This Poison Heart which was another four star read!
I continued reading Sheets and finished! It was really cute and unique
and I just loved Wendell's (the ghost's) storytelling skills!
I took a break to write and do other things but then I went back to Six Crimson Cranes which turned out to be a five star read!
I haven't been getting as much time to read at the hotel cause my brother has to go to sleep early and I have yet to gain amazing reading in the dark powers :(
On most day weekends on non-school days I read to uptil at least 11 but mostly until after so it feels really weird to be going to sleep at 9 now.
I guess I'll just have read more during the day then!
Day 8-
~ 12-30-2021 ~
Hellloooo
I read some more of the illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets then I finally finished Anne of Avonlea which was a five star read! My e-book app said I took three hours to read it but it's been on my currently-reading shelf for more than a month because I was busy with other books.
I now have 9 books left to read and 2 days to read them so I'm still not sure if I'll be able to, but we'll see!
Ok, so later on I started Crooked Kingdom and read a few pages. I actually read this months ago (idk how many cause I have a really bad sense of time), but I did read most of this before, only I couldn't finish because my loan on it expired. So now, I'm picking it up again and reading it from the start. But I'm scared it will take away from my reading time for other books because it's soooo long, so I might actually put it off to the start of next year.
I finished Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me, which was a 3 star read, and then I read 27% of House of Hollow, which is really good so far! I also finished my reread of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and wow this illustrated edition has so many pages with spiders, like maybe 4 in a row.
a spider family

lol, that last one looks like me thinking about this challenge (or me in Chemistry). Then the first one is me being like "YESSSS I finished a whole book! I can do this!!" Then I see how many books I still have left and I'm like [☉﹏☉].
ooh this is also me when I thought I was done with my homework but then there's still moreee
Honestly this face is just really relatable in general, lol
bye for now! More to come tomorrow!

Day 9-
Hello and Good Morning! Or Good night if you're reading this at night :)
I'm still at the hotel but I'll be going back home today so I should get more time to read then. I now have 7 books left to read and then I'll be done! Right now, I have to go and pack but once I get home I'll get to read after I do some other things first. I'll be cleaning my room, washing my hair, and going to gift exchange with my friends, but after that I can get all my reading in!
I'll also be posting a new post of my top ten books of 2021, so look out for that!
I'll update more later! Bye for now ╰(*°▽°*)╯
Ok, I'm back home now! I have to do school stuff for a few hours, but after that, I'll finally get to reading.
Ok so another update, it's 9 in the night and I still have seven whole books to read before midnight!! Well actually, it's not 7 whole books, some of them are just finishing books I'm in the middle of, but still!!
Ok, I really have to stop freaking out about it and go READ
byeee
I'll update more later!
Ok, I'm back! I keep having to stop reading and do other things and now I'm really scared I won't finish in time
If only I could read some baby books instead, lol 😂
Then I could finish everything in less than five minutes
ahhh I can't believe it!! I finished just in time for midnight and now I'm done with my 200 books for 2021!!!!
Here are the 7 books I read today:
House of Hollow✅
Red, White, and Whole✅
Anne of Green Gables (a reread)✅
Percy Jackson and the Singer of Apollo✅
Smile (a reread)✅
The Best of Sherlok Holmes ( a reread)✅
Paper Hearts Some Publishing Advice (a reread)✅
I was originally going to read a bunch of new books for my seven books but they're all really long so I ended up finishing some rereads I'd started earlier instead. I'll probably end up reading those in 2022 though!
The Results
I read frantically to the very last minute(literally) and I finished my 200 book reading challenge! I'm definitely lowering my challenge next year and I've decided my 2022 challenge will be to read 150 books because that's the amount of books I can comfortably read without rushing too much and struggling to fit it into my schedule.
I hope that this was at least mildly entertaining and that you never have to rush your reading like this! Here's to a new year of reading!! 🥳🎉
