books are pain
I knew they were emotionally painful but now I have found out they can also be physically painful if they're mad at you for reading them while also reading too many other books at once and will take their anger out by repeatedly hitting your legs and hands from inside a library bag.
Oookkk! Now onto the post because who even asked for that weirdly specific description anyways
1. Wuthering Heights
The first book is got is an old copy of Wuthering Heights!
I almost changed my mind and picked up those beautiful editions of Jane Austen novels that look brand new instead but then I regained my self-control and picked up the book I actually went there for.
for context, this is what it looks like
I've been trying to convince myself its oldness matches the aesthetic of the oldness of the writing and is, therefore, a good thing (even if the pages feel kind of weird) and I think it's working! Then I got this probably not true idea into my head that this book was a part of the original collection of books in the library from when my school was first founded everything was oldern-day-ish and then I saw these tiny arrows and was like, "it's a message from people from the 1900s!!!" Which I then realized is probably not the case because the pen looks like it's from modern day...
Also, for some reason, it smells faintly of flowers which I know from reading like this
Just imagine the computer is a book instead and it's pretty accurate, lol. Also in case, anyone's wondering, that's a cartoon of Tuk from the line friends collection of Itzy (a K-pop band).
2. Delicates
This graphic novel is GORGEOUS 😍
I enjoyed it even more than the first one, which was Sheets because this one had such great themes and new characters!
lol just ignore the math paper. It was just laying around so I used it as a bookmark.
What's great about this book is that not only does it have super cute art (as many graphic novels do), but it also has a meaningful story! I also of course, loved Wendell's character in this, just like in the last one.
3. Gearbreakers
I'm about halfway through this and it's really cool so far! I love the concept of Gerabreakers and Windups and this dystopian world, but I would have liked to see more of it. My main problem was that I was really confused for most of it, but that's probably just me. It could be because I don't read sci-fi that I often? I'm not sure, but I'm going to keep reading and try to pay more attention!
4. A Darker Shade of Magic
I actually haven't started this yet, but I just wanted to say that is been on my tbr for a while now and I really hope it doesn't disappoint me!
5. The City We Became
here's the thing...I actually don't like cities, no not even New York city, which I've been to multiple times. I like the concept of cities and I can see why people are drawn to them, but personally, I don't like them that much. So it's super ainterestingnd fun to read about this city setting cause it's such a great setting to both read and write about!
Random Update Time!
It's been exactly month since I last posted :(
I feel really bad for not updating as much as I should especially since I was just on a hiatus, but this past week or two has been really busy with school, and writing competitions, and concerts and things, and any free time I have is used reading. So blogging has taken a back seat, but I'm going to update whenever I can even if it's not the usual types of bookish posts! Also, in case you've noticed, I haven't really been doing monthly wrap-ups and honestly is because I find them a little boring to read. I know they're the posts every book blogger does and it's kind of expected, but I'd much rather due random bookish posts and reviews that I find interesting. Sorry if that's disappointing anyone, but's probably not because there are SO many amazing bookish bloggers out there who do this type of post!
Anyways, I just wanted to give a quick explanation for how my blog's been lately and say, I have a bunch of posts planned which will hopefully be coming up soon! :)
